Get ready to take on the ultimate fitness challenge – the Sydney Tower Run-Up
on August 29!

Test yourself against the best in this heart-pumping 1504-step endurance race up the stairs of Sydney's highest building, Sydney Tower.

The fastest male and female runners will win the opportunity to take their step-scaling skills to the US with the major prize of return airfares to New York to take part in the annual race up the stairs of the 86-storey Empire State Building in 2009.

Age group category winners and corporate winners will receive double Sydney Skywalk passes, valued at $130.

By taking part you will also be raising much-needed funds for The Heart Foundation, with $5 from every race entry fee donated to the charity.

When: August 29
Where: The race starts at the foot of Sydney Tower in Pitt Street Mall and finishes on the Observation Deck, 250 metres above street level.
Inclusions: Drink, Tower Run Up singlet and certificate.

Male: Scott McTaggart - 8 minutes 12 seconds (8:12) (record time of 6.52 held by Paul Crake from 2000)
Female: Angela Leadbeatter - 9 minutes 15 seconds (9:15) (current record holder)

The 2008 Tower Run-Up will mark the 16th time the event has been held. Sydney Tower has welcomed more than 17 million visitors – or four times the population of Sydney – since it opened to the public in 1981.

This year’s charity, The Heart Foundation, is dedicated to reducing the dreadful effects of the number of people living with, or dying from heart, stroke and blood vessel disease.
